Devil's River Fishin' by Dennis Farris Oil ~ 48" x 51"

The Devils River twists and turns its way through southwest Texas, carving two hundred foot cliffs out of the gray and cream colored limestone that creates the distinct look of the Hill Country. The river boasts “the cleanest water in Texas” because it’s spring-fed waters travel through sparsely populated rough country, through mostly private ranches which has allowed the water to remain pristine, before emptying into Lake Amistad at Del Rio.
In this painting, the cowboy, (TJ, my father-in-law) takes a rare break from his endless ranching duties to enjoy the beauty of his livelihood. The shallow rapids in which he is standing, (boots and all) flow into a deep crystal pool below a towering cliff of gray and cream rock
